City Park Pavilion Barbecue
Friday, July 28, 2017
This promises to be a really fantastic summer party and one of the best events of 2017!!!
We have secured the City Park Pavilion – one of the most iconic locations in Denver and Colorado – for the first event of our Reunion. This is the perfect location because it’s right next door to East High School, and City Park is a central part of the East Denver community that people from both East and Manual know and love. We all know that the setting by the lake has one of the most beautiful and photographed views of the Denver city skyline. For those who are interested, we are also planning to have a tour of East High School and their new museum and Hall of Fame in the late afternoon, just before the event. These Reunion tours are usually hosted by retired East High English teacher Mr. Richard Nelson, who has written a wonderful book about the history of East called “Flight of Angels.”
The Friday event is a family-oriented event, so you can bring your children. We expect that a lot of brothers, sisters, cousins and friends will be joining us, because a warm summer evening at City Park with great food is hard to beat. We have a great community and a lot of classmates, family and friends are already excited about this event. The event will begin at 5 pm with food being served from 6 – 8. Also at about 6 pm we’ll also enjoy a performance of the East High Jazz Combo group on the gazebo stage, right beside the lake. At 8 pm we’ve got a DJ spinning music from 70s, 80s and 90s, as well as contemporary hits – and we’ll be dancing and partying from 8 – 11. We will be serving beer and wine, as well as non-alcoholic drinks. The food will done with authentic smoked barbecue pits by Big Jim’s Barbecue, “Put the Taste of the South in Your Mouth” – one of the best on the Colorado Front Range.
